Conversion

Definition:

In digital marketing, a conversion is the completion of a predefined goal. This is generally used to track the number of website guests that are converted into paying clients. 

Information:

Anything a website visitor completes a desired goal, a conversion is achieved. This way, they turn from visitors to leads or customers. A conversion occurs when somebody changes from a passive website visitor to an active, interested visitor or client. Sales are not always the chosen metric.  The primary conversions that digital marketers tend to refer to include:
  • Leads
  • Sales
  • Form completions
  • Email signups
  • Subscriptions
  • Registrations
  • Visits to a key webpage
  • Phone calls
