Prototype

Definition:

A prototype is the first version of a product that will be tested.

Information:

When developing a product, different fidelity prototypes may be built. To validate concepts, one can create low-fidelity paper prototypes (with pencil and paper) in the early stages. One can then move on to designing software, such as Sketch, to create a high-fidelity prototype once the flows and concepts have been validated. Rather than looking like a doodle, prototypes will look like apps on mobile devices, and they can be utilized to fine-tune details on the user interface. Therefore, prototyping allows seeing whether the design (or changes) works the way one expected it to before the final product is released into the real world.
